Introduction

In Hebrews 13:8-9 we learn that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.”

It's for this reason that we seek to educate our children in the Word of God. We see that the primary responsibility for the training and nurture of children rests with the parents in our congregation. The elders and teachers seek to encourage parents in this vital task and to provide a program of consistent instruction that can supplement the instruction that takes place in the home and in the weekly gathering on the Lord's Day.

Catechism Classes

Young people (ages 9-18) meet every Wednesday night at 7:00 to study the Bible, as summarized by the Heidelberg Catechism (learn more about the Heidelberg Catechism). This study is intended to provide our young people with concise, systematic instruction about what the Bible teaches, in order that they may give an informed confession of their faith in Christ.

Congregational Education

We have several Bible Studies and classes to choose from for those who are looking to grow in their faith and their understanding of the scriptures. The Ladies' Morning Bible Study meets at 9:30 am on Thursday mornings at the church building of Immanuel URC in Jordan, ON and the Men's Evening Bible Study meets at the church on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm.
