Join us for our Christmas Program!

Wednesday, December 21st at 7:00 PM

We invite you to join us for our annual Christmas program as we celebrate through music and scripture the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ! We will be honouring our Messiah and King who has come to vanquish death and deliver us from the judgement that our sins deserved!

The program will include a lot of congregational singing, scripture readings, and special presentations by our musically-inclined members as we together meditate on and celebrate the coming of our Saviour! We'll also have a time of refreshments after the program.

If you need assistance to join us, please don't hesitate to contact us and we will send someone to pick you up or assist in any other way!

Advent Series at Adoration

With our traditional celebration of Christmas quickly approaching, we will be devoting time to a special series of Advent sermons. While we are not obliged to follow a set pattern of Advent preparations, there are many blessings to be found in meditating on God's Word in connection with the wondrous news of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Through the Word of God, we meet Him "who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:6-8 ESV)

If you would like to read the passages for our sermon series in advance (and read surrounding texts to learn something of their context) we will be hearing from:

KING: November 27th: 1 Chronicles 17
WARRIOR KING: December 4th: Isaiah 7 & 9 & 59:16-17
SHEPHERD KING: Jeremiah 23 (esp. vs 5-6); Psalm 110
KING OF PEACE: Micah 5 (esp. vs 4-5)
KING OF ZION: Psalm 2 & Matthew 1:1-25

Backyard Bible Study in Romans

Young Adults:

All of our young adults (single and married) are welcome to participate in a summer Bible study in Pastor Norm's backyard. We'll be reading and studying the book of Romans together. We'll meet on Sunday evenings at 7:30pm beginning on June 26th. Please read Romans 1 for the first night. Bring your Bible, friends, refreshments, and lawnchairs and we'll explore God's Holy Word together. Come once, twice, or to all six evenings! If you have questions, contact Pastor Norm. We will meet June 26, July 10 & 31, Aug 14 & 21, and Sep 4.

Adoration Men's Breakfast

All the men in the congregation are invited to the Men's Breakfast taking place on Saturday morning at 7:30am at the Bistro 41 Restaurant in Vineland. The Bistro has graciously offered to open up 30 minutes early so that we can meet together and hear from Mr. Groen on the theme of masculinity and the biblical meaning of it.

Some of the questions we'll be considering together include:

1. Rick Phillips, the author of The Masculine Mandate, states that our times suffer from a crisis in leadership. Do you agree or disagree? How can Christian men provide one answer to the leadership crisis of our times?
2. Why is it so important that the husband lead the marriage and the home? What happens to a  wife when her husband won't lead? What happens to a man when he is not leading his home?
3. What is the difference between discipling and discipline? How are they related. Why are both absolutely needed in the Christian upbringing of children?
4. The author states that the chief reward of serving Christ is the sheer joy of serving Christ. Do you agree? Have you experienced this joy? What happens when our service to Jesus is motivated by other rewards? Why should serving Jesus Christ be such an overwhelming joy to us, even in hardship?
5. How can you begin practicing shepherd -leadership regardless of your lifesetting? What are the biggest changes this will require in your treatment of other people?

Interested? Contact Pastor Norm for more info.

Congregational Meeting & Singing Workshop

All members of the church are strongly encouraged to attend our spring congregational meeting. It's an important part of our effort to be financially accountable and be diligent in keeping our members informed about how our funds are spent throughout the year and what our needs are in the year ahead.

We will also host Rev John Van Popta and Ms. Rita Faber of the Fellowship Church in Burlington who will lead us through a workshop on singing and the place of music in our worship services. They will be bringing several talented musicians with them to bring us through a most integral part of our worship services.

Because our regular space is booked, we will be moving our meeting to Immanuel URC in Jordan and our meeting will start there at 7:30pm.

Details about Public Lecture by Dr. Van Dam

Office Bearer Training (Feb 11): Everyone is invited to join us at Adoration URC on February 11th at 7:30 pm as we host Dr. Van Dam as our speaker to cover what Scripture teaches regarding women in office, both elder and deacon, and the roles they can play. We have decided to open up this evening to all members in our churches, male and female, so that we can learn and grow together. There is a great need for this reminder of the scriptural principles that undergird and guide our discussions of ordination and office in the church and the broader calling of every church member to exercise their gifts in the service of Christ and His Church. For more information contact clerk@adorationurc.ca. (Next training session: February 25th at Grassie)
